Vintage Astronaut outfit for sale

I'm finally getting around to listing some of my spares on eBay, but I thought I would offer this vintage Astronaut outfit to the discerning members of VAME first!  The outfit itself is not uncommon, but the suit is prone to tearing, the helmets are often damaged or missing the foam inner, the elastic is usually perished on the chestpack and the balance bar is almost always missing.  This one is in genuinely outstanding original condition and complete.  It comes with a pink bodyform (I don't know if the suit came with this, but it helps to preserve it), instruction leaflet (no rips or scribbles) and Equipment Manual No. 2 showing the Astronaut (also in really nice condition).  If anyone is interested, please PM me with an offer before I list it tomorrow evening.  I'm hoping for around £50 but all offers considered.

Looks nice Mike.  If I didn't have a Joe set and a 40th set I would have taken your offer.

It's the best one I've seen loose.  It is better than the one in my collection, but the one in my collection was mine as a boy so I'm rather attached to it!

Incidentally, my GI Joe version of the suit is different to the Palitoy one.  There is no zip across the chest and no white straps.  It doesn't look like there ever were any either.  Is that normal for the GI Joe version?  What were that zip and the straps supposed to be for anyway?

The GI Joe one is on the right, Action Man on the left.

It is a very nice set. Fantastic that you still have your original

The Joe suit you have there is from another set I think - Space Walk Mystery or similar. Hang on a tick and I'll check my books....

Ah ok....it's a variation of the suit from the "Hidden Missile Discovery" set:

Thanks deeyem, it's good to know where it came from.  Maybe I need to invest in a GI Joe reference book too!  Is it rare?

As Baz said, the book is fairly easy to get (I got mine from the US when I was ordering other items). Just don't pay the cover price

Not sure if the suit is rare. I have only had one (which I have on a figure) but if it is a variation from the other suits which were produced in greater numbers then it might well be in at least the "hard to find" category. Worth checking ebay in the US to see how often they come up I guess.

Nice set Baz. Is that two different cards or the before and after shots?

I got the box with the dressed figure, then  a bit later got the outfit still
on it's backing card, and put em together.
Sold the dressed figure on Ebay.
NOT a mint example, but I'm chuffed to have it!

It is one of my favourites too, because it is so evocative of the period.  I have a nice boxed space capsule, but would love a carded outfit to go with it.

The Crash Crew is another classic. Sold a complete recently VERY cheap on Ebay.
Still have a minter and two incomplete ones in my Mum's.
Honestly, if I was back Liverpool, you guys would have a field day with my spares!

This sold for a good price in the end.  It is unusually clean, so I hope the buyer is pleased.  I did offer it here first!
