Still got my childhood boxed Airfix soldiers with my model Airfix stuff i used to love the old artwork on these when i was little.
Did you know they changed all the artwork on Airfix to cut out all the battle scenes because they thought it to be bad taste that was in 1979/80
I didnt find out till years later but that was the time i went off them and got more into Action Man , must have been because of the military theme.
Still think those Action Boxes are brilliant the artwork was the nuts ![]()

There is a great book that chronicles the history of Airfix available.

Great stuff, funnily enough that very box (plus some of the others) arrived in the post today, great new box design
the actual figures are not quite the same colours & the plastic is a lot tougher/.....the Commandos are a very dark green, the 8th Army, the British Infantry & the Paras are all brown/khaki ...all the same great detail

yep airfix were great - used to spend hours setting them all up - if I was to collect anything else (apart from trainers and coats) it would be airfix soldiers

Just opened the new box of US Paras which has 13 different poses, unfortunately of the 14 figures 5 of the poses are missing ...best to hunt down a vintage set from ebay for all the poses & buy a new set for the ace box

Bad influence this thread......just ordered British Paras, German Paras, 8th Army, US Paratroopers, German infantry...
I really hope Airfix continue with these and make all the other military sets, what a nostalgia trip all for a £5
if only i still had the 2 bucket fulls i had as a kid!!!!!!!
