Thought some of you might enjoy a detailed look at the GI Joe Blackhawk set.

I've been collecting the Dreams and Visions range of  DC Comics GI Joes and this is one set that has eluded me until a while back.

The box art.

The contents.

image

The set includes a reprint of Blackhawk's first ever appearance.  Many of the sets on eBay do not have the comic book included.

image

The individually numbered certificate that accompanies the set.

image

Blackhawk in the classic "Black Knight" uniform.  A nice head sculpt on a classic Hasbro vintage Joe body.  Holster and belt are leather.

image

Classic vinatge style box art by Don Stivers, the artist for the GI Joe Adventure Team.  Note Action Pilot logo.

image

Original comic art of Blackhawk team member Andre.

image

The man himself, sporting the 1964 update of the Blackhawks' uniform, again with a real leather belt and holster. The figure is a GI Joe Convention figure, the Desert Jeep Driver, who I thought would make a perfect Andre, with his trademark "Ronald Coleman" moustache.

Andre wearing the Air Rescue kit.

image

A rear view of the parachute pack.  It contains a working yellow silk parachute.

image

Comic book art showing Stanislau.

image

Again, a contemporary Joe, the Korean War USAF pilot, bears a remarkable likeness to the big Pole.  The parka and pants are lined with yellow quilted fabric.

image

A rear view showing a brown version of the classic Hasbro Field Radio, this time with a headset instead of a telephone receiver.

image

An example of the great detailing that has gone into the uniforms.

I've just added two new recruits to my Blackhawk crew team.  Here is Blackhawk in the '60s comic book update of the team uniform...

image

And here is the Blackhawk GI Joe in the uniform...

image
Chuck Wilson the red-headed Texan member of the Blackhawks...

image

Again another Classic Collection GI Joe figure has been drafted into the ranks of the Blackhawks to represent Chuck...

image

Chuck in full uniform...

image

Blackhawks assembled. "HAWK-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!"

image
The big temptation now of course is assembling the whole Blackhawk team in both versions of the uniform - particularly that spiffy looking '40s version.   Somebody stop me! smiley: ohwell

I will. their terrible. devildevildevil
Its OK mate. Each to their own. I'm not a comics person. never heard of em before. Not sure why Hasbro Joe would get involved in this. The use of the brown field radio and fighter pilot helmet was interesting.

A set that combines GI Joe and DC comics...whats not to like! I've got a couple of copies of this set and a few loose uniform.

Have Dreams and Visions gone? They produced quite an impressive range of sets,Blackhawk, Sgt Rock's easy company, Enemy Ace, Unknown Soldier and the Crew cuts. Is that it?
A Challengers of the Unknown set would have been cool!
