HI guys

Dont know if any of the following have been asked before but would appreciate couple of pointers to finish some figures

1) Tommy Gunn last issue para - was there specific/different trousers a/or boots etc to go with this, (I know about the marron plastic beret) - I have jacket, belt SLR, bayonet
also should this outfit be on flock haired doll??
this also ties in with a query over trousers with silver stud popper - did any VAM trousers (other than the cowboy) use this method rather than the hidden stud fastener???

2) Royal Marines Combat and Artic - did/should the belts for these have a silver buckle???

3) Royal Marines Combat - are the puttees for this any different in colour from the para ones??

got more ?'s but think that enough to be getting on with

any help/comments welcomed

Alasdair

Re Q1 : there were green VAM trousers with silver stud indeed.  I suppose these are the older ones.

Maybe the 1960's specialists can provide info about these.

Hi Alasdair ,

With reference to Qu1:

Tommy Gunn boots have no numbers to the bottom , Action man boots are numbered

The  VAM Tank Commander has a silver popper , cowboy has this style but the popper is actually painted.
brown

Qu :  RM Mountain and Arctic buckle would be more gold in finish.

Pic of the Zodiac Para (flock hair as you mention)

I thought the green VAM trousers with a silver stud were the early Para ones.

thanks simpson,  I have a couple of pairs of green trousers with studs (normal VAM style & material etc) but have never been sure where they sat in the scheme of things

the early Tommy Gunn trousers are easy to identify but wasnt sure whether these ones were actually later TG issue vis a vis my other question about later TG para etc

cheers

Alasdair

Hi no probs only happy to help the trousers are different no stitching and a thicker material it really is a great looking outfit I also had a green kit bag again darker than action mans with a blanket to match it with the uniform on the kit bag it says tommy gunns kit bag or something like that not seen the set for ages as I dont really do zodiac anymore prefer the pedegree stuff also there was a black slr rifle with him.I'll dig it all out soon smile

when you do get chance dig it out any photos of the trousers ect would be really appreciated

just realised that was yourself that put together the  tommygunncolectors page - which I am have been hugely grateful for as a point of reference in the past

I not huge zodiac fan either (which is why dont know anything about it) but decided since got the figure the jacket and the rifle etc may as well have a go at trying to complete it

the really bad thing about the figure is that no matter how you dress it up it looks like some 12 year old whos been dragged into combat like the HJ at end of WW2,  even the bearded one which you have a photo of on the collector site is a bit disturbing  surprise

many thanks again

Alasdair

Lol true that the tommy gunn face doesn't look good with flocked hair that's why I don't really like them the early zodiac painted heads are not to bad thought I like the blonde painted heads the heads are really soft there's quite a few combinations with eye and hair colour got a lot of my zodiacs from Belgium don't know if it's right but they were quite popular theresmile
