Some of you may be aware of a public announcement from one of the Admins on another Action Man forum, accusing members of the VAME Admin and Mod team of making nuisance calls, sending abusive messages and death threats and signing one of them up to a variety of pornographic sites.

We would like to make very clear that we in no way condone such behaviour and that the accusations that VAME Admins or Mods are responsible for it are completely unfounded.

Further to the announcement made by deeyem over 2 months ago, we would like to make very clear that no contact has been made by the Police or any other authorities in connection with the accusations leveled against members of the VAME Admin team on another Action Man forum by two former members well over 2 months ago now.  The two former members concerned were banned from VAME for good reasons and these accusations appear to be part of a vindictive campaign against VAME by them.

Whilst we sympathise with anyone who has suffered the alleged issues experienced, these may well be a consequence of making personal e-mail addresses and telephone numbers freely available on public websites, including eBay, as part of the promotion of their upcoming shows.  Sadly, that is asking for trouble these days with plenty of unscrupulous people out there.  That is precisely why we do not permit personal contact details to be disclosed on VAME.

However, what we did not disclose previously was that some members of the VAME Admin team had received abusive personal messages directly from these former members (regular visitors to Action Man fora will know who they are so I will not name them here).  These messages included threats of physical violence, at their own homes or at an Action Man show. These messages have now been passed to the Police, and appropriate action has been and will be taken.

The former members are involved with an upcoming action figure show on May 12 and have publicly stated that members of the VAME Admin team are not welcome and will be turned away.  Furthermore they have asked that the event is not promoted here or on any other Action Man forum.  We will abide by that request and of course will stay away from the show.

On a personal note, I have tried very hard to try and maintain a kind of peace between VAME, the former members concerned and the members of their new forum.  Sadly, I have had to conclude that the situation has deteriorated beyond my limited diplomatic abilities.  Further efforts at reconciliation on my part were only making things worse and so I resigned from their forum some weeks back.

Obviously, this is all very unpleasant and is completely out of proportion after disagreements between adult collectors of a toy.  If the Police have completed their investigation now and, as we expected, no evidence of wrongdoing by any of the VAME Admin team has been found, an apology is in order and would ask that the unfounded and defamatory allegations are removed from their website forthwith.  This might allow some harmony to be restored and hopefully we can all just concentrate on enjoying a common interest in our iconic childhood toy - Action Man.

Apologies to those of you who have no idea what this is all about - please pay no attention and enjoy VAME!
